SAINT PAUL, Minn. – The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) announced its weekly award winners and Yellowjacket senior lefthanded pitcher Ryan Rodriguez (Chaska, Minn./Chaska) was named the conference's Baseball Pitcher of the Week in a release Monday.

For Rodriguez, it is the third time this season he has received the weekly honor from the UMAC, having previously been named pitcher of the week Mar. 13 and Apr. 3. Rodriguez has now been named pitcher of the week five times in his Yellowjacket career.
 
Rodriguez made one appearance this week and posted another gem, pitching a complete-game shutout in a 10-0 win over Martin Luther Saturday. Rodriguez went the distance, allowing just two hits and striking out a season-high 11. At one point in Saturday's start, Rodriguez struck out six Knights in a row.
 
On the year, Rodriguez has been remarkably consistent, going 5-1 with an earned run average of 1.47. Over 55 innings pitched, Rodriguez has walked just six hitters while striking out 54. In eight starts this season, Rodriguez has allowed three or fewer hits five times, and only twice has he surrendered two-or-more earned runs.
 
The Yellowjackets 15-11 (11-3 UMAC) currently sit in first place in the conference, and will be back home Tuesday when they host Northland College. The first pitch is scheduled for noon at the NBC Spartan Sports Complex.
