SUPERIOR, Wis. – Four members of the Yellowjacket men's cross country and track and field teams were named Academic All-District® by the College Sports Communicators (CSC), the organization announced in a release Wednesday.

Nate Ohman (Lake Nebagamon, Wis./Northwestern), junior distance runner
David Collins (Ironwood, Mich./Luther L. Wright), junior sprinter
Ethan Westimayer (Laona, Wis./Laona) and sophomore
Garrett Lynch (Portage, Wis./Portage), who competes in multiple events, were all honored by the CSC for the first time.

The College Sports Communicators (formerly known as College Sports Information Directors of America) Academic All-America® program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom, separately recognizing cross country and track and field student-athletes in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

To be eligible for nomination consideration, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 or higher and be a starter or key contributor on their respective team.

Ohman, a senior from Lake Nebagamon, Wis., is majoring in exercise science and has a grade point average of 3.883. Ohman was named All-UMAC First Team during both the indoor and outdoor track and field seasons. A nominee for the UMAC Scholar-Athlete Leadership Award, Ohman was the UMAC champion in the weight throw during the indoor season and the hammer throw during the outdoor season.

Collins is majoring in exercise science and carries a grade point average of 3.951. The native of Ironwood, Mich. was named the top men's scholar-athlete at UW-Superior in 2022-23. Collins received All-UMAC honors during the 2023 outdoor season after earning a second-place finish in the 1,500 meter run.

Westimayer, a junior from Laona, Wis., was named All-UMAC First Team recognition following the indoor and outdoor track and field seasons. During the indoor season, Westimayer was part of a pair of UMAC champion relay teams. During the outdoor season, Westimayer was again part of two UMAC champion relay teams as well as the conference champion in the 200-meter dash. Westimayer has a 3.801 grade point average while majoring in transportation and logistics management.

Lynch enjoyed a breakout year in 2022-23. During the indoor track and field season, Lynch won the UMAC championship in the pole vault and qualified for the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in the heptathlon, where he finished 14th. He continued his domination during the outdoor season, where he won UMAC titles in the 110-meter hurdles, the pole vault and the long jump. A native of Portage, Wis., Lynch has a grade point average of 3.678 while majoring in business administration.

Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced June 28.
