SUPERIOR, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-Superior women's hockey program released its schedule for the 2023-24 season, in a release Monday. Dan Laughlin is in his 21st season at the helm and just 8 wins away from his 300
th career win at UW-Superior.
The Yellowjackets compete in two exhibition games to prepare for the regular season. The first tune up will take place at Wessman Arena against St. Scholastica Oct. 20 at 6 p.m. UWS will hit the road and play St. Benedict Oct. 21 at 2 p.m.
UW-Superior will open its regular season with a home series against Lawrence University Oct. 27-28. Friday's game is set for a 7 p.m. puck drop with Saturday's at 2 p.m.
Superior will head to Hamline Nov. 3 for a 7 p.m. start before welcoming Augsburg to Wessman Arena Nov. 4 with a 2 p.m. puck drop.
Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletics Conference (WIAC) play opens for the Yellowjackets on the road with single games against UW-Eau Claire Nov.11 at 2 p.m., Northland Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. and UW-Stevens Point Nov. 21 at 2 p.m., followed by a home game against St. Scholastica Nov. 21 for a 4 p.m. puck drop.
The Yellowjackets and St. Olaf will play a home-and-home series Dec. 8-9. Friday's game is set for a 6 p.m. puck drop, and Saturday's game is slated for a 2 p.m. start. Saturday's game will also serve as Alumnae Day for the 'Jackets.
Before closing out the first half of the season, the Yellowjackets will head across the bridge for a single game against St. Scholastica Dec. 12 at 6 p.m. UWS will follow with a weekend series at Concordia, (Minn.) Dec.15-16 with puck drop Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m. to officially close out the first half.
Starting off the second half of the season, the Yellowjackets will host Marian for a home series January 5-6 with a 7 p.m. start Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday. With a quick turnaround, UWS will be on the road to face Augsburg Jan.9 for a 7 p.m. puck drop.
The Yellowjackets face Eau Claire (Jan. 11 and 13) and Stevens Point (Jan. 18 and 20) the next two weeks in home-and-home engagements.
The Yellowjackets hit the road for the final road game of the regular season, taking on UW-River Falls Feb. 3 at 7 p.m.
UWS heads down the final stretch with two home series welcoming Stevens Point Feb 9-10 with a 7 p.m. puck drop Friday and a 2 p.m. Saturday. The Yellowjackets follow with Northland Feb. 16-17 playing at 7 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday at Wessman Arena.
Last season the Yellowjackets went 11-15-0 overall and 4-8-0 in the WIAC, falling short in the first round of playoffs.
