RACINE, Wis. – The Yellowjacket men's tennis team opened the 2024 portion of its schedule Friday, making the long road trip to the southeast corner of the state to take on Carroll University.
Â
The Yellowjackets, who got a lot of early matches in during the fall portion of the schedule, looked to get things off on the right foot Friday, but the Pioneers had other ideas, as Carroll defeated the Yellowjackets 6-3 at the LifeSport Tennis Club.
Â
Coupled with their results in the fall, the Yellowjackets have a record of 1-2 on the 2023-24 season.
Â
Carroll took the early lead, winning two of the three doubles matches. The Yellowjackets got the win at No. 2 doubles, where
Yash Chhabra (Jaipur, Rajasthan/Sanskar School) and
Lucca Paladini (Blumenu, Brazil/Colegio Saber) defeated their Carroll counterparts 8-5.
Â
Chhabra and Paladini continued their winning ways when things shifted to singles play. Chhabra won at No. 4 singles, defeating Carroll's Ryan LaBelle 6-1, 4-6, 1-0. At No. 5 singles, Paladini took down Carroll's David Eman 6-1, 4-6, 1-0.
