VARIOUS LOCATIONS – Saturday the Yellowjacket men's tennis team returned for day two of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Midwest Regional and the UNW Invite, hosted by Northwestern.
Match Notes
- During the Midwest Regional, Andrei Rivera (St. James, Minn./St. James) took on Brett Cillessen from Simpson and emerged victorious 7-5, 6-2. He would later fall to BLC's Daniel Poulakidas 7-6, 2-6, 2-10.
- At the UNW Invite, Marcos Parrilla fell to Aiden Hull from Wartburg 2-6, 7-6(5), 1-0 (11-13). IN the third round, he dropped a 6-1, 6-4 decision to UNW's Zander Peterson.
- Carter Drescher (Eau Claire, Wis./Altoona) fell to Wartburg's Ricardo Caggiula 6-3, 6-0, while Preston McClimek (Hermantown, Minn./Hermantown) defeated UNW's Tinga Kiriago 6-1, 6-2. He would claim fifth place after playing Diego Sabroso (Zaragoza, Spain/Compania De Maria) and defeating him 6-1, 6-7(8), 1-0 (10-8).
- Before playing in the fifth place match, Sabroso took down Andy Larsen 6-4, 6-4.
- Caden Chesla (Isanti, Minn./Homeschool) earned a 6-4, 6-4 win over Crown's Jayden Tankersly before falling to CSS's Jack Thomas 7-5, 7-6(2).
- Gavin Brown (Isanti, Minn./Cambridge-Isanti) fell to Justin Walker from Wartburg 6-2, 6-4, but later claimed the third place match with a 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-7) win over UNW's Nikolai Hirsimaki.
- Zac Gebert (Cambridge, Minn./Cambridge-Isanti) fell to Colton Abels from Wartburg 6-4, 6-1.
- The duo of Larsen and Brown fell to Crown's Clark and Comings 6-4 in doubles play, while Parrilla and Sabroso claimed third place with a 6-4 victory over CSS's Petricka and Thomas.
- Chesla and Drescher won the B doubles bracket after defeating Wartburg's Vint and Abels 6-4. McClimek and Gebert claimed third after taking down UNW's Swenson and Gallo 6-1.
The Yellowjackets return to action Saturday where they host St. Olaf. The opening serve is set for 12:30 p.m. at the Yellowjacket Tennis Complex.
