SUPERIOR, Wis. – Saturday marked the final home contest for the Yellowjacket women's soccer team, as they hosted Bethany Lutheran in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) championship match. UWS entered the postseason tournament as the No. 1 seed, boasting an 11-1 record in conference play.
Their only UMAC loss? The No. 2 seeded Vikings.
UW-Superior suffered a 3-2 loss at Scheels Field in Mankato in the early stages of the season. After the loss to the Vikings, the Yellowjackets surged through the rest of the conference, allowing just two goals to UMAC competitors and scoring 29 in the process.
After scoring four against Crown College in the semifinal match, the Yellowjackets would score another four Saturday, shutting out the Vikings to claim their fourth-consecutive UMAC tournament championship.
