SAINT PAUL, Minn. – The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) revealed their weekly award winners for the week of Feb. 5, and the Yellowjacket women's track and field team swept both honors.
The relay team of
Simone Stephens (Scottsdale, Ariz./Saguaro),
Cora Hudella (North Branch, Minn./North Branch Area),
Tea Boerner (Owatonna, Minn./Owatonna Senior) and
Halle Barker (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior) combined to win the UMAC track weekly award, while
Emma Johnson (Centuria, Wis./Unity) claimed the field honor.
The relay team of Stephens, Hudella, Boerner and Barker set both a facility and school record at the Third Annual Maday Classic. Their finish of 22:34.96 was more than 90 seconds faster than the previous record set in 2018. Additionally, this time is also the top 4x1600 finish throughout the NCAA.
Also competing in the Maday Classic, Johnson earned two fourth place finishes that featured a deep field of top NCAA Division II and III throwers. She finished with a mark of 14.65 meters in the weight throw and a mark of 11.25 meters in the shot put.
The Yellowjacket women's track and field squad return to action Saturday as they compete in their final regular season tune-up, the Gene Glader Classic. Events commence at 10 a.m. inside the Sports and Recreation Center on the campus of Bethel University.
