ASHLAND, Wis. – The Yellowjacket women's basketball team hit the road Tuesday to take on Northland College. After securing two victories this past weekend against Northwestern and North Central, the 'Jackets held sole possession of first place within the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) with a record of 8-1. After Tuesday's contest with the LumberJills, the 'Jackets added one more tally in the victory column.
UWS was led by senior
Erika Mattson (Ely, Minn./Ely Memorial) and
Charlotte Ferstl (Plain, Wis./River Valley), scoring 11 and 10 points, respectively. Defensively the 'Jackets saw three players finish with six rebounds, including
Elise Besonen (Ewen, Mich./Ewen-Trout Creek),
Hannah Hause (Stanley, Wis./Stanley-Boyd) and
Emily Dehler (Pierz, Minn./Pierz Healy).
Game Notes
- The 'Jackets outscored Northland 14-5 in the first quarter and 24-6 in the second quarter, allowing for a 27-point lead heading into halftime.
- UWS shot 39.5 percent (15-38) during the first 20 minutes of action.
- All 15 players for the Yellowjackets subbed into Tuesday's game.
- Mattson capped her evening with a 71.4 percentage from mid-range, her second-best of the season.

The Yellowjackets (13-8, 9-1 UMAC) hit the road Saturday to take on Minnesota Morris. Tipoff inside James Gremmels Court is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
