MORRIS, Minn. – The Yellowjacket women's basketball team hit the road Friday, traveling to the campus of Minnesota Morris to compete in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) play. As the top two teams in the conference duked it out, the Yellowjackets continued their winning ways, sneaking past the Cougars by a score of 66-64.
Â
Whenever the 'Jackets began to build a lead, the Cougars slowly crawled back, keeping UWS on its toes. Along with solid defensive play from both teams early in the contest, the 'Jackets would hold a five-point lead heading into the second half.
Â
The Yellowjacket defense continued to hold their own in the third, thwarting away any Cougar points for more than four minutes, but this would change in the final quarter of play as Minnesota Morris tied things up early. UWS was able to recover, however, and claim their tenth victory within the circuit.
