AUBURNDALE, Fla. – Nearing the end of their spring break trip, the Yellowjacket baseball team took the diamond against Stockton University. These two ball clubs faced each other two years ago in the Sunshine State, as the Yellowjackets edged the Ospreys by a 4-3 decision.
Â
Friday's game ended in a thriller, but the start of the game was far from it if you are a Yellowjacket fan.
Â
As the ten-run rule creeped on UWS, it mustered a comeback and forced a full nine innings. The 'Jackets placed a six-spot in the bottom of the eighth inning and came within two in the final frame, but Stockton called on their best arm to shut the door, defeating the Yellowjackets 14-12.

Game Notes
- UW-Superior went with Aiden Pfeifer (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) on the mound, but the Ospreys tagged him for five hits and seven runs in the second inning. He would take the loss on the afternoon.
- The Ospreys added three runs in the top of the fourth inning, as Declan Higgins (Minneapolis, Minn./DeLaSalle) gave up three runs on two hits and two walks in an inning of work.
- The 'Jackets scored their first runs in the bottom of the fifth, courtesy of an RBI single from Trey Sybrant (Saint Michael, Minn./Saint Michael-Albertville Senior) who scored Noah Dagostino (Andover, Minn./Andover). Next, Will Czech (Anoka, Minn./Anoka) hit a sacrifice fly to left field, scoring Tanner Voight (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater Area) who was plunked in his at bat.
- Stockton hit back-to-back home runs in the top of the sixth off Josh Pritchard (Surrey, British Columbia/Clayton Heights Secondary), who pitched three innings in the contest.
- The Ospreys made a pitching change in the sixth, and the Yellowjackets rudely welcomed him to the game with a single from Brian O'Dwyer (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove Senior) and a homer from Cole Ondrus (Esko, Minn./Esko), his first as a Yellowjacket.
- UWS did their damage in the bottom of the eighth, scoring six total runs off Stockton's Joey DiQuollo and Danny Snyder.
- Zach Threde (Volo, Ill./Wauconda) was given the top of the ninth inning. He held Stockton to just one run.
- The Ospreys called on their best arm to close the door in Reece Miller. The 'Jackets tallied two runs early on and had runners in scoring position, but were unable to cash in.
- Sybrant led the Yellowjacket offense, going 4-5 with four RBIs and a walk.
