RIPON, Wis. – Following last week's Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) championship, a select group of Yellowjacket athletes headed out this weekend for one last chance to qualify for the 2024 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships. On the schedule was the final qualifier hosted by Ripon College.
 
On the women's side, the Yellowjackets had just one athlete competing, and unfortunately, Summer Hesseldahl (International Falls, Minn./Falls) didn't improve her marks enough to jump into the field for nationals.
 
Hesseldahl competed in two events Saturday, one on the track and one in the field.
 
In the 60-meter hurdles, Hesseldahl placed third, coming in with a time of 10.06 seconds. She finished just two-hundredths of a second off her personal record.
 
Hesseldahl also competed in the long jump Saturday. And like in the hurdles, Hesseldahl came up a little short of equaling her previous personal record. Hesseldahl placed 12th in the long jump, coming in with a leap of 4.42 meters.
 
Today was the final event of the 2023-24 indoor season. Next up for the Yellowjackets is a trip to Virginia Beach, Va. for the Virginia Beach Spring Break Invitational March 13-17.
