DULUTH, Minn. – The Yellowjacket baseball team ventured into non-conference action Wednesday, facing off against former Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) foe and current Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) member St. Scholastica. This was the fourth-straight game the Yellowjackets have played at Historic Wade Stadium, as UWS hosted Minnesota Morris over the weekend.
Â
Due to anticipated weather conditions near the Twin Cities, the 'Jackets were forced to reschedule their opening UMAC game versus Northwestern to Thursday. Because of the change, this prompted Yellowjacket skipper
TJ Oakes to turn to his bench Wednesday and save his starters for conference action.
Â
The Saints scored first and ultimately capitalized on Yellowjacket miscues, leading to their 14-4 victory in seven innings.

Game Notes
- St. Scholastica plated their first run of the ballgame in the bottom of the second inning, scoring off an error at first base by the Yellowjackets.
- UW-Superior was able to get Toby Boevers (Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park) to third after he reached on an infield single, but that's as far as he would go.
- The Saints scored three more runs courtesy of a three-run shot by Jake Schelonka, which ended starting pitcher Josh Pritchard's (Surrey, British Columbia/Clayton Heights Secondary) outing.
- Jordan Trimble (Victorville, Calif./Grandview (Colo.)) led off the top of the fourth, singling to right field before Wylee Lottman (Kerkhoven, Minn./Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg) singled to center. Noah Paulseth (Apple Valley, Minn./Apple Valley) drove him in as the 'Jackets got their first run of the contest.
- Pritchard gave way to Riley Harbaugh (Banks, Ore./Banks), who pitched the next 1.2 innings, allowing four hits, four runs and two strikeouts. His first full inning began with an error in centerfield, which allowed four runs to cross.
- The Yellowjackets responded in the top half of the fifth, as Cole Ondrus (Esko, Minn./Esko) clubbed a single to left field, scoring Jonny Rhodes (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior) who reached on a leadoff single. Trey Sybrant (Saint Michael, Minn./Saint Michael-Albertville Senior) continued his hot streak, clubbing a triple to score Ondrus before Will Czech (Anoka, Minn./Anoka) cashed in Sybrant, making the score 8-4.
- Payton Mangold (Ottawa, Ill./Ottawa Township) entered in the bottom of the fifth inning but was tagged for two runs as two errors were committed by UWS.
- CSS plated two more in the sixth off of Mangold and Kevin Rahe (Princeton, Minn./Princeton). Rahe would allow three singles in a row before Dawson Rannow (Hermantown, Minn./Hermantown) was called from the bullpen. He would walk the final two batters of the ballgame, as the Saints downed UWS 14-4 in seven innings.
- Despite the lobsided score, the Saints only had four more hits than the Yellowjackets.
- Rhodes and Ondrus each went 2-4 on the afternoon, while Sybrant upped his hitting streak to a modest seven games.
