SAINT PAUL, Minn. – The Rider Bolstorff Invite, hosted by Macalester College, is the final tune-up for the Yellowjacket men's track and field team heading into next week's Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

And if this week's results showed anything, it's that the Yellowjackets will be a force to be reckoned with next weekend at Minnesota Morris.

When events got started Thursday, they opened the meet up with a win. Strong performances continued Saturday, as the Yellowjackets came home with an array of top-five finishes.

Nate Ohman (Lake Nebagamon, Wis./Northwestern) was the winner in the hammer throw Thursday, and he had a pair of strong events Saturday. Ohman placed second in the shot put, finishing with a heave of 14.97 meters. In the discus Ohman finished third, posting a mark of 38.48 meters.

In the javelin,
Earl Foster (Forest Lake, Minn./Spectrum) was the runner-up, finishing with a mark of 50.71 meters.

Ben Babcock (Blue Earth, Minn./Blue Earth Area) had a pair of strong jumping events Saturday. In the long jump, Babcock placed third with a mark of 6.21 meters, while he placed fifth in the triple jump with a mark of 12.22 meters.

In the running events, the sprinters had a good day.
Ethan Westimayer (Laona, Wis./Laona) earned a fourth-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.66 seconds. In the 100-meter dash,
Will Schorr (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior) placed fifth, coming across the line with a time of 11.32 seconds.

Foster was second in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing with a time of 59.41 seconds.

Meet Notes
- Carson Wilhorn (Necedah, Wis./Necedah) earned a pair of top-ten finishes, placing 10th in the shot put (11.44 meters) and sixth in the discus (37.34 meters).
- Foster placed sixth in the 110-meter hurdles, finishing with a time of 16.35 seconds.
- Two Yellowjackets, Zach Reese (Zimmerman, Minn./Spectrum) and David Collins (Ironwood, Mich./Luther L. Wright), placed in the top ten in the 800 meters. Reese was seventh (2:01.14) and Collins ninth (2:02.16).
- Aidan Doherty (Wild Rose, Wis./Wild Rose) was seventh in the 1,500 meters, finishing with a time of 4:07.60. Dylan Uitto (Ashland, Wis./Ashland) was ninth in the same event with a time of 4:11.51.
- The 4-x-100-meter relay team finished third with a time of 43.40 seconds. The team was made up of Westimayer, Schorr, Edward Hakanson (Foxboro, Wis./Superior Senior) and Garrett Lynch (Portage, Wis./Portage).
- In the 4-x-400-meter relay, the Yellowjackets were seventh with a time of 3:35.15. Iain Matheson (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior), Bryce Boldt (Waupaca, Wis./Waupaca), Garrett Kroells (Green Isle, Minn./Sibley East) and Joel Thomas (Cardiff, Wales/Islwyn) were on the team.
- Matheson was sixth in the 200-meter dash.
- Jason Thomas (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior) was sixth in the pole vault, clearing a height of 4.00 meters.
- Lynch and Ethan DeFoe (Superior, Wis./Superior Senior) also had top-ten finishes in the long jump.Â
Next up for the Yellowjackets is the 2024 UMAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Minnesota Morris. Events get underway at 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 3.
