ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The Yellowjacket women's track and field team has reached "last chance" mode for the 2024 outdoor season.
Â
Following the conference championships, track and field teams typically will compete in events over a couple weeks, hoping to hit a mark that will lift them into the 2024 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Last week the Yellowjackets were a UW-La Crosse, and this week they are at Augustana College for the two-day Midwest Twilight.
Â
Events kicked off Wednesday, and for the Yellowjacket women, only one athlete was in action.
Â
Sophomore
Sidney Bader (Milltown, Wis./Unity) competed in the javelin Wednesday. Bader, who set a new school record in the event earlier this year, started the day with a throw of 32.83 meters in her first attempt, then topped it with a mark of 33.15 meters in her second try. She fell off on her third attempt, finishing with a throw of 29.26 meters.
Â
Bader's mark of 33.15 meters placed 22nd.
Â
The second day of the 2024 Augustana Midwest Twilight is scheduled for Thursday at the Knowlton Outdoor Sports Complex. Events start at 11 a.m. For the Yellowjackets, Bader will compete in the discus while
Myla Volk (Wabeno, Wis./Wabeno) will compete in the long jump and triple jump.
