SAINT BONIFACIUS, Minn. – The Yellowjacket women's basketball team has found success midway through the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) season in 2024-25. Only falling to top-seeded Martin Luther just over a week ago, the 'Jackets have accumulated five wins in the first round of conference games.

Wednesday evening they entered the Wild Athletic Center on the campus of Crown College and the Yellowjackets handled their business, defeating the Polars 56-42 to improve their UMAC record to 6-1.

Game Notes
- The Polars scored the first two points after the Yellowjackets fouled, but Elsa Olson (Cottage Grove, Minn./Park) got her squad started with a three pointer. Katie Dobson (Black River Falls, Wis./Black River Falls) followed with a trey of her own which led to Charlotte Ferstl (Plain, Wis./River Valley) hitting a layup for an early 8-2 lead.
- Emily Dehler (Pierz, Minn./Pierz Healy) checked into the game and took a feed from Olson to hit a layup inside the paint. The Polars came back within three, but Olson and Dehler provided the offense late in the first quarter, leading to Chloe Peterson (Hutchinson, Minn./Hutchinson) splitting her shots from the charity line to lead 17-9 after the first.
- Quarter number two served as the closest scoring quarter Wednesday, as the Yellowjackets logged 15 and the Polars scored 14.
- Ferstl hit a jumper early on before Elise Besonen (Ewen, Mich./Ewen-Trout Creek) scored a quick five points off a midrange jumper and a trey in back-to-back possessions.
- Action ensued as a pair of Polar threes forced the Yellowjackets to call a timeout. Consecutive layups by Olson got Superior back on track before two minutes of scoreless action followed.
- Crown came within seven towards the end of the first half until Dobson received a pass from Ferstl and logged a layup inside the paint, leading 32-23 at halftime.
- Besonen and MyKenzie Leccia (Somerset, Wis./Somerset) put up a pair of threes, leading to Dobson's fastbreak layup to boost the 'Jackets by 17 points at 40-23. Later in the period Dehler scored back-to-back buckets before the third quarter ended, but the Polars came back and chopped Superior's lead to 11 at 44-33.
- Ferstl, Besonen and Dobson paced the Yellowjackets in the fourth, maintaining the lead and coming away with their sixth conference victory at 56-42.
- Three Yellowjackets finished in double digits, and Besonen led with 13 points. Dobson and Dehler followed with 12 and ten points, respectively.
- Sydney Cotton led Crown with 17 points, while Isabelle Sager grabbed over half of the Polars' rebounds with 16.
- Besonen now comes two points away from logging 1,000 career points as a Yellowjacket.

The 'Jackets (10-8, 6-1 UMAC) stay on the road to face North Central Saturday afternoon. The opening tipoff inside the Clark-Danielson Gymnasium is scheduled for 4:45 p.m.
