MENOMONIE, Wis. – Friday afternoon marked the first day of the Warren Bowlus Multi, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Stout inside the Sports and Fitness Center. The women's pentathlon saw 14 entrants predominantly from the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC), but the one outlier came from Superior's freshman
Riley Toivonen (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids) out of the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC).
Toivonen took 12th in the 60-meter hurdles with an 11.42 second race time to begin the day. In the high jump, she gained another 12th place finish leaping over the bar at 1.26 meters before entering the shot put.
After garnering a heave of 5.90 meters for 13th place, Toivonen was forced to withdraw after sustaining an injury in the high jump.
Leading the pack after garnering 3,532 points was UW-Eau Claire's Emilee Booker. She took two first-place finishes in the 60-meter hurdles and the long jump.
The Yellowjackets will see action in the Warren Bowlus Open Saturday, with events beginning at 11 a.m. in Menomonie.
