COLFAX, Wis. – Friday the Yellowjacket men's cross country team saw action at the Blugold Invite, hosted by UW-Eau Claire at Whitetail Golf Course. The race was originally scheduled for Friday evening, but due to anticipated temperatures, was moved to the morning.
Despite the move, the weather still played a huge role in the race. Nevertheless, Superior still posted strong performances on the morning as they ramped up for the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Championship next month.
Race Notes
- Leading not only Superior but the rest of the league was Maverick Hoogland (Catawba, Wis./Phillips), who turned in a 27:00.1 race time, serving as a new PR.
- Dylan Uitto (Ashland, Wis./Ashland) followed close behind, crossing the line at 27:08.2. Ben Plackner (Bovey, Minn./Greenway) garnered a season-best mark of 28:21.5, while Dominick Meisner (Bloomer, Wis./Bloomer) secured a 28:25.0.
- Superior was rounded out with Jayde Canfield (Prescott, Wis./Prescott), Deryck Parduhn (Ashland, Wis./Ashland) and Oleksandr Danylov (Kyiv, Ukraine/European Collegium). Canfield finished in 30:17.0, while Parduhn logged a season-best mark at 30:49.3. Danylov capped his morning with a 33:17.
- Superior led all UMAC participants in the race.
The 'Jackets are back in action Saturday, Oct. 18 when they take on the Augustana Interregional Invitational. The race is set for 11 a.m. at Saukie Golf Course.
