NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The Yellowjackets women's tennis team traveled to southern Minnesota to take on St. Olaf in a non conference match. The event took place at the Carlson Courts, but was moved indoors to the Tostrud Center due to darkness. At the end of the day, the 'Jackets claimed a 4-3 victory over the Oles to improve to 4-1.
Match Notes
- Anouk Bluemm (Nuremberg, Germany/Wilhelm-Loege Gymnasium) and Claudia Curtis (Hartland, Wis./Lake Mills) fell to Alexandra Berns and Emma Clift at No. 1 doubles, but the 'Jackets rallied to claim the doubles point with wins at the second and third positions.
- Kate Jonas (Annandale, Minn./Annandale) and Addison Fee (Crookston, Minn./Crookston) won 6-4 at No. 2 doubles, while Daylyn Drew (Negaunee, Mich./Negaunee) and Elif Oezen (Rheda-Wiedenbrueck, Germany/Einstein Gymnasium) claimed doubles No. 3 by a score of 6-2.
- Drew and Oezen kept their winning ways in the singles as they won 6-3, 6-3, in No. 5 singles, and 6-0, 6-2 in No. 2 singles, respectively.
- Curtis garnered a victory in the No. 3 singles, winning 6-3, 6-4 over her Ole counterpart.
- Bluemm dropped No. 1 singles to Alexander (6-0, 6-1), and Jonas (6-2, 7-6 [7-4]) and Fee (6-4, 6-3) lost No. 4 and No. 6 singles.
It's a quick turnaround for the 'Jackets, facing off against Carleton. The opening serve is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the Pat Lamb Tennis Courts in Northfield.
