Superior Blanks Buccaneers 3-0 to Open WIAC Play

JANESVILLE, Wis. – Friday the Yellowjacket women's hockey team looked for their first win in the 2025-26 campaign, as they opened Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) play against Beloit College inside the Woodman's Center.
 
Game Notes
  • Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the first period, but in the second, Emma Kligora (Milton, Wis./Milton) received passes from Kendal Gustavsson (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing) and Addison Fee (Crookston, Minn./Crookston) to break the scoreless draw at 2:02.
  • Nearly four minutes later the Yellowjackets struck once again as Aspen Lukasezck (Aurora, Colo./Cherokee Trail) lit the lamp. Both Brook Monicken (Hudson, Wis./Hudson) and Taylee Marks (Thunder Bay, Ontario/Hammarskjold) were credited with helpers.
  • The final blow came from Stacy Steiner (Janesville, Wis./Craig), converting on the power play with Maya Anderson (Cambridge, Minn./Totino-Grace) and Gustavsson receiving assists, as Superior defeated Beloit 3-0.
  • Superior took 35 shots in the contest and were led by Veda Roeske (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater Area), shooting seven towards Buccaneer goaltender Janelle Quast.
  • Maddie Wostrel (Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park) collected her first collegiate win, making 11 saves and collecting the shutout.
  • Kligora won seven-of-11 faceoffs on the night, while Ashton Parnell (Cambridge, Minn./Cambridge-Isanti) was successful on six.
 
The 'Jackets continue conference play as they travel to K.B. Willett Arena to face UW-Stevens Point. The opening faceoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. in Stevens Point.
