‘Jackets Fall to Titans in BSN Winter Classic Finale

OSHKOSH, Wis. – The Yellowjacket women's basketball team played their second of two contests at the Oshkosh Arena, taking on tournament-host UW-Oshkosh Monday afternoon. The Titans, who currently stand as the third ranked team in the nation and entered the contest undefeated, extended their unbeaten streak by defeating UWS 68-41.

Game Notes
  • The Yellowjackets got points from the quartet of Megan Schafer (Grantsburg, Wis./Grantsburg), Hope Carlson (Duluth, Minn./Proctor), Charlotte Ferstl (Plain, Wis./River Valley) and Kyra Latvala (Solon Springs, Wis./Solon Springs) early on.
  • Elsa Olson (Cottage Grove, Minn./Park) got on the scoresheet with a jumper inside the paint to shrink the Titans' lead to five at 17-12, but the home squad pushed the pace and maintained a buffer of at least nine points heading into the break.
  • Maddie Reott (Stoughton, Wis./Stoughton) completed a three-point play after drawing a foul midway through the third. Later MyKenzie Leccia (Somerset, Wis./Somerset) garnered a trey before Schafer would nail one from outside the arc, bringing Oshkosh's lead to nine.
  • UW-Oshkosh outscored Superior 22-5 in the fourth, leading them to their 11th straight win at 68-41.
  • Schafer and Ferstl each finished with 10 points, while Ferstl added 10 rebounds for her first double-double of the campaign.
  • The 'Jackets shot 36.7 percent from the field, compared to UWO's 43.1.
  • To date, Ferstl logged her 11th double-double as a Yellowjacket Monday.

The Yellowjackets (2-9) are back home Wednesday as they take on Carleton for the second time this season. The opening tipoff is set for 1 p.m. inside the Mertz.
