SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Saturday marked the final opportunity to tune up for the 2025 Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) indoor championships for the Yellowjacket women's track and field team, with the championships coming to the UW-Superior campus next week.
Â
Rather than bring a full team on the road, at this point in the season the rest was best for the bulk of the Yellowjackets. Saturday, in fact, saw the Yellowjackets competing in just one event at the Gene Glader Classic, hosted by Bethel University – the 4-x-200-meter relay.
Â
The Yellowjacket team ended the day finishing in third place, crossing the line with a time of 1:57.31, which marked a new season best for the unit. They finished behind only the two teams from host Bethel and edged out UMAC foe Northwestern, who placed fourth. The Yellowjacket team was comprised of
Summer Hesseldahl (International Falls, Minn./Falls),
Grace Nonnemacher (Duluth, Minn./Denfeld), Lilianna Jones and
Cora Schmitz (Luck, Wis./Unity).
Â
The Yellowjackets will be back in action Friday, Feb. 28 when they open the 2025 UMAC Indoor Track and Field Championships. Events are scheduled to start at 1:30 p.m. in the Lydia Thering Fieldhouse on the UW-Superior campus.
