Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – The Yellowjacket baseball team played their second and final doubleheader of the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational Monday, taking on the Monks of Saint Joseph's College. Both teams entered the day with a pair of wins under their belt from yesterday's contest, setting the table for teams that are riding hot hitting.
 
The 'Jackets surrendered a two-run first inning but gained the runs back in the bottom frame. The Monks continued to utilize timely hitting and took advantage of Yellowjacket miscues to extend the lead. A three-run fifth inning by Superior sparked a rally as they came within five before each team plated one in the sixth, but the 'Jackets fell 10-6 in the opener.
 
Game two saw Superior fall behind after a six-run third from Saint Joseph's which paced the Monks through game two, completing the twin bill sweep against UWS 8-5.
 
Game One Notes

• A leadoff homer to left field gave the Monks an early advantage before plating another in the opening inning. The bottom half saw Devin Frydenlund (Belleville, Wis./Belleville) garner a triple to right field before Tanner Voight (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater) singled to left center to even the scoring.
• Another homer in the second boosted the Monks to 3-2 before they added another round tripper in the third. Saint Joseph's garnered six more runs to finish the ten-run attack.
• Superior utilized a three-run fifth inning beginning with a hit by pitch drawn by Jonny Rhodes (Superior, Wis./Superior). Frydenlund hit an RBI single to score Rhodes while Cole Ondrus (Esko, Minn./Esko), who reached via walk, later scored off a two RBI single from Trey Sybrant (Saint Michael, Minn./Saint Michael-Albertville).
• Maxton Howell (Mission Viejo, Calif./Mission Viejo) began the bottom of the sixth with a solo shot to left field, but that's all the 'Jackets were limited to in the inning. The seventh saw Superior go down one-two-three to close the game, falling 10-6.

 
Game Two Notes

• The first two innings were scoreless until SJC used a six-run third inning to take the lead. They clubbed seven hits in the inning.
• Sybrant drew a walk in the top of the fourth before Howell smoked an RBI double to left center to answer back.
• Dagostino led off the top of the fifth inning with a walk. Ondrus reached on a single to the second baseman to create a first-and-third scenario for Frydenlund, who singled through the right side to plate Dagostino.
• Mason McKellar (Nashotah, Wis./Arrowhead) began the top of the sixth inning with a one-out single to left field before he scored off an RBI triple from Chase Oxborough (Brooklyn Park, Minn./Champlin Park). Payton Steiner (Baraboo, Wis./Baraboo) pinch hit and reached on a throwing error from the third baseman, scoring Oxborough and bringing the 'Jackets within two at 6-4.
• A two-RBI double from Saint Joseph's provided insurance, extending their lead to 8-4. The top of the seventh led to a leadoff walk from Frydenlund, who ultimately scored after a bases-jammed walk to Oxborough, but the Monks shut the door and came away with an 8-5 win.
• Oxborough paced offensively, while Christian Pretasky (Meadowlands, Minn./South Ridge) fared well as he toed the rubber for the first time in his collegiate career.

 
The 'Jackets will now face Roger Williams following an off day. The single nine-inning game is set for 5 p.m. CT at Chain of Lakes Field in Winter Haven, Fla.
