WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – After bouncing back from an off day with a victory over Roger Williams University, the Yellowjacket baseball team was back at it Thursday taking on Loras College. The Duhawks are a team that have consistently appeared in the NCAA Tournament, giving UW-Superior a tough task heading into the second half of their spring trip.

The 'Jackets shut down Loras until the top of the third inning, when back-to-back errors from Superior's defense allowed four runs to come in and score. The Yellowjackets got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the sixth inning and logged two more in the following frame, setting up an interesting final inning.

UWS shut the Duhawks down in the top of the ninth inning, but Loras got a one-two-three inning in the bottom of the ninth to hold on by a score of 4-3.

Game Notes
- Dawson Rannow (Hermantown, Minn./Hermantown) logged his first appearance on the mound in the 2025 season, pitching 2.1 innings and allowing just three hits with four unearned runs. He would give way to Kevin Rahe (Princeton, Minn./Princeton), who shut down the Duhawks for 3.2 innings, featuring five consecutive strikeouts.
- Loras utilized a fielding and throwing error to their advantage in the top of the third inning, leading to a trio of singles to strike first blood. Another error in the inning led to the fourth run of the inning before Rahe came in and shut them down.
- The bottom of the sixth inning began with Maxton Howell (Mission Viejo, Calif./Mission Viejo) drawing a one-out walk. He advanced on a wild pitch to second base leading to an RBI single from Brian O'Dwyer (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) down the right field line. He would get to third off a Trey Sybrant (Saint Michael, Minn./Saint Michael-Albertville) single, but the 'Jackets couldn't capitalize with a pair of runners in scoring position.
- LC got two quick outs in the bottom of the seventh before Cole Ondrus (Esko, Minn./Esko) reached via base on balls. Devin Frydenlund (Belleville, Wis./Belleville) reached on an infield single and Howell walked yet again, leading to an RBI single from Wylee Lottman (Kerkhoven, Minn./Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg).
- O'Dwyer drew a walk that brought the 'Jackets within one at 4-3, but the Loras coaching staff called for a pitching change that shut down the Yellowjacket bats. Superior was threatening in the bottom of the eighth as well, but only two hits were allowed by the Duhawks.
- Frydenlund and Noah Dagostino (Andover, Minn./Andover) led the 'Jackets with a pair of hits, as Frydenlund went 2-5 and Dagostino was 2-3 at the plate, with two stolen bases as well.
- Payton Mangold (Ottawa, Ill./Ottawa Township) and Zach Threde (Volo, Ill./Wauconda) also toed the rubber Thursday. Mangold threw 2.1 innings and allowed just one hit, while Threde appeared for 0.2 innings.

The Yellowjackets (5-7) will take the field Friday in a matchup with Greenville. The opening pitch is scheduled for 11 a.m. CT at Northeast Regional Park in Davenport, Fla.
