WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – The final day of the Yellowjacket baseball's spring trip came on Saturday, as they faced off against Plattsburgh State out of the SUNYAC. Superior struck first in the bottom of the first inning for an early lead, but the Cardinals came back to knot things up early.

After both teams exchanged blows through the middle innings the 'Jackets took the lead back but a costly three-run inning came in the top of the eighth, proving to be the winning runs for the Cardinals as they emerged victorious 5-3.

Game Notes
- A two-out single from Payton Steiner (Baraboo, Wis./Baraboo) got Superior started in their first ups, followed by a walk from Maxton Howell (Mission Viejo, Calif./Mission Viejo). Garnering an RBI single was Trey Sybrant (Saint Michael, Minn./Saint Michael-Albertville), giving the 'Jackets an early advantage.
- Plattsburgh State utilized a leadoff hit-by-pitch to tie the game as an RBI single to left saw the Cardinals even things up.
- In the top of the third a two-out single sparked Plattsburgh as they took a 2-1 lead.
- Superior responded in the bottom of the fifth inning as Will Czech (Anoka, Minn./Anoka) hit an infield single before Wylee Lottman (Kerkhoven, Minn./Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg) singled to right field. A sacrifice bunt from Jonny Rhodes (Superior, Wis./Superior) led to a sacrifice fly off the bat of Noah Dagostino (Andover, Minn./Andover) to level the score.
- The Yellowjackets regained the lead off a key RBI single to center by Dagostino, scoring Lottman who drew a one-out walk.
- A costly three-run inning gave Plattsburgh the lead, as an RBI double down the right field line tied things up while a triple to right center field gave the Cardinals a 5-3 advantage.
- Zach Romans (Saint Michael, Minn./Saint Michael) toed the rubber in the Florida finale, pitching seven innings and allowing two runs off five hits. He gave way to Aiden Pfeifer (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie), Ethan Coady (Toronto, Ontario/Etobicoke School of the Arts) and Kaden Corlett (Gordon, Wis./Solon Springs). Corlett pitched a scoreless frame in one inning of work.

The Yellowjackets commence Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) play Friday, taking on Northland College. The first pitch is set for 3 p.m. at the NBC Baseball & Softball Complex in Superior.
