DULUTH, Minn. – In their final non-conference game of the 2025 season, the Yellowjacket baseball team completed its two-game series with St. Scholastica Wednesday. Temperatures in the Twin Ports were anticipated to nearly reach 60 degrees, but Mother Nature decided to turn down the thermostat for the bridge-rival game.
Â
The 'Jackets fell 3-0 after the Saints accumulated five hits in their half of the first inning. Superior finally answered with an RBI single in the top of the fifth, but CSS responded right back with another run in the bottom half of the inning. A four-run sixth and a three-run eighth was all St. Scholastica needed to capture their 21st victory of the season, defeating UWS 11-1 in eight innings.

Game Notes
- Yellowjacket southpaw Dawson Rannow (Hermantown, Minn./Hermantown) drew the start Wednesday afternoon, allowing an early three runs and five hits to come across. He would begin to settle in from there, however, pitching a scoreless three innings before being relieved by Gio Basile (Eau Claire, Wis./Eau Claire North). Rannow was handed the loss, bringing his record to 1-2 on the campaign.
- Trey Sybrant (Saint Michael, Minn./Saint Michael-Albertville) delivered the only RBI on the day for the 'Jackets, singling to left field to score Jonny Rhodes (Superior, Wis./Superior), who led off the top of the fifth with a single down the left field line.
- The Saints matched that run in their half of the fifth with a single through the left side.
- Basile exited the game after allowing a leadoff single before garnering a strikeout. He would give way to Aiden Pfeifer (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie), who allowed three runs and three hits in the bottom of the sixth inning.
- Superior's submarine specialist Ethan Coady (Toronto, Ontario/Etobicoke School of the Arts) was tasked with the seventh inning and only surrendered one hit. In the eighth, four-consecutive singles would see CSS go ahead 10-1. Ben Hunt (Libertyville, Ill./Northridge Preparatory) would relieve Coady, but a single to left field would end the game at 11-1.
- Sybrant and Cole Ondrus (Esko, Minn./Esko) led offensively, each collecting two hits on the afternoon.
