Baseball Logs Seven to UMAC Postseason Awards

SAINT PAUL, Minn. – The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) announced its postseason awards in baseball Wednesday, and seven Yellowjackets received All-UMAC plaudits following the 2025 season.
 
Superior had five student-athletes recognized on the league's first team, including Ben Welle (Melrose, Minn./Melrose), Kevin Rahe (Princeton, Minn./Princeton), Tanner Voight (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater), Trey Sybrant (Saint Michael, Minn./Saint Michael-Albertville) and Payton Steiner (Baraboo, Wis./Baraboo). Both Maxton Howell (Mission Viejo, Calif./Mission Viejo) and Josh Pritchard (Surrey, British Columbia/Clayton Heights Secondary) were named to the league's honorable mention list.
 
Additionally, Mason McKellar (Nashotah, Wis./Arrowhead) represented UW-Superior on the All-UMAC Sportsmanship Team.
 
Welle garnered his first postseason honor as a Yellowjacket. As the Yellowjacket ace he started 11 games, pitching three complete games and ending with a 5-2 record. He logged a team-high 71.2 innings pitched, fanning a career-high 54 batters and finishing his collegiate career with 110 strikeouts. Furthermore, Welle limited the opposition to a .226 batting average all season while earning a first-team citation.
 
Rahe emerged as one of the team's best relievers throughout the campaign, collecting his first All-UMAC First Team selection. He toed the rubber on 11 occasions this season, pitching 22.1 innings and striking out 20 batters while limiting the opposition to only a .175 batting average. From Mar. 13-Apr. 18, he appeared in five games and didn't allow a single earned run in 11 innings of work while only surrendering four hits and striking out 13.
 
Voight earns his second postseason honor in 2025 after collecting an honorable mention citation last season. Starting 37-of-39 games played as a junior he finished second on the team in average (.326), runs (34) and hits (46), garnering a slugging percentage of .546. Voight garnered a pair of multi-game hitting streaks on the season, including a nine-game stretch from Mar. 20-Apr. 6 and a seven-game streak from Apr. 12-23.
 
Sybrant was a staple in the heart of the order for UWS this past season, leading to his first All-UMAC First Team distinction. Starting 36-of-38 games played he led Superior in average, swinging at a .351 clip, while collecting 47 hits, five doubles and three homers. Patrolling left field he was perfect, fielding 1.000 with 64 putouts and an assist. Sybrant logged a .455 slugging percentage while setting a new career-high on-base percentage of .420.  
 
Steiner receives his third consecutive season on the All-UMAC First Team. After being sidelined early in the year due to injury, he started 30-of-31 games in right field. In 123 at bats, he collected 39 hits for a .317 average while adding an on-base percentage of .397 and a slugging clip of .577. Steiner added nine doubles, a triple and a career-high seven homeruns coupled with 33 RBIs, eclipsing the 100 RBI mark in his Yellowjacket career. Additionally, he garnered a 14-game hitting streak spanning from Apr. 12-May 3.

Howell displayed his best season in 2025, leading to his first postseason award from the league. He solidified the starting role in center field this season, starting 32-of-37 games played. Capping the year with an average of .305 (36-for-118), Howell scored 21 runs and clubbed 10 doubles, a triple, and a team-leading 10 home runs coupled with 41 RBIs. He slugged at a .661 clip while collecting an on-base percentage of .374. Defensively he only committed one error, ending with a fielding percentage of .988.
 
Pritchard served in a starting role as a sophomore, earning an honorable mention citation. He appeared in 11 games, starting nine and ending with a record of 4-2. In 42.1 innings of work he allowed 19 earned runs while striking out 32, nearly tripling his freshman season's mark. Opponents hit just .255 against Pritchard and only logged 12 extra base hits. His sophomore campaign ended with an ERA of 4.04.
 
The Yellowjackets ended the 2025 season with an overall record of 18-21, coupled with a conference record of 12-9.
