La Crosse, Wis. - The Yellowjacket volleyball team continued their matches at the UW-La Crosse Invitational Saturday afternoon after emerging victorious in their first two matches of the weekend. They started off with a match against St. Norbert who they defeated 3-1. To finish their tournament, they took on host UW-La Crosse and dropped the match 3-1.Â

In set two UWS took early control off two kills from Makenna Hohbein (Holdingford, Minn./Holdingford) and an ace from Sidney Bader (Milltown, Wis./Unity) contributed to the 'Jackets 9-2 lead. From there the Yellowjackets and Eagles again traded points, but the Yellowjackets finished off the Eagles with a set win of 25-13Â

In set four the Yellowjackets were able to seize momentum off a five-point swing behind efforts from Kyndra Peterson (Mounds View, Minn./Irondale), Katlyn Jones (Bloomer, Wis./Bloomer) and Makenna Hohbein (Holdingford, Minn./Holdingford) taking a 9-6 advantage. Â

After the Yellowjacket flurry the Eagles were able to regain control going on a five-point run themselves at one point. After that the Yellowjackets never got back within four points and were defeated 25-19.Â

The Yellowjackets were led in kills by Makenna Hohbein (Holdingford, Minn./Holdingford) with 15 while Savanna Hering (Superior, Wis./Superior) led the way with 19 digs.Â
Next up for the Yellowjackets they make their first appearance in Mertz Mortorelli Gymnasium on the season as they host the Subway Stinger Classic. They will face Concordia (Minn.) at 3 p.m. and Augsburg at 7 p.m. on Friday. Â
