SUPERIOR, Wis. – Despite over a month off from the season-opening CSS Early Bird Dec. 13, the Yellowjacket men's track and field squad took home eight personal records and a season-best mark at the Twin Ports Open inside the Dr. Lydia C. Thering Fieldhouse Saturday.
Meet Notes
- Both Ben McPherson (Ashland, Wis./Ashland) and Gus Schmitt-Mischke established PRs in the 60-meter prelims. In the finals, Ethan Bowe (Chetek, Wis./Chetek-Weyerhaeuser) took sixth with a 7.21-second mark.
- Kyle Peterson (Brainerd, Minn./Brainerd) had a fine day for Superior, taking second in the 60-meter hurdles with a mark of 8.71 seconds. In the 200-meter hurdles, he claimed the top spot with a time of 25.95 seconds.
- Chance Davis (Superior, Wis./Superior), competing in the high jump, leaped to a personal record of 1.83 meters for third place.
- Sawyer Ferdon (Motley, Minn./Staples-Motley) garnered a fifth-place mark in the long jump at 6.21 meters while ranking first in the triple jump, receiving a leap of 12.10 meters.
- Tucker Briggs (Superior, Wis./Superior) (11.27 meters), also competing in the triple jump, took home third place.
- Carson Wilhorn (Necedah, Wis./Necedah) unleashed a weight throw of 16.90 meters, giving him sole possession of third place, while Fabian Rosales (Washburn, Wis./Washburn) logged a 13.50-meter heave. They both set PR's in the shot put, claiming marks of 13.17 and 10.55 meters, respectively.
- Jason Thomas (Superior, Wis./Superior) took third overall with a season-best leap of 4.02 meters in the pole vault.
Superior is back in action Saturday, traveling to The Donald McNeely Spectrum for the Saint John's Invitational.
