COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – The Yellowjacket men's track and field team took on the CSB/SJU Invite Saturday. After achieving 21 significant marks in 14 PRs and seven season-bests, the 'Jackets continued their strong showing inside The Donald McNeely Spectrum.
Leading the charge was
Logan Ulate (Oconomowoc, Wis./Oconomowoc), who claimed first place in the long jump with a mark of 6.28 meters, just .09 meters shy of his personal record.
Meet Notes
- In the 60-meter prelims, the Yellowjacket trio of Edward Hakanson (Foxboro, Wis./Superior) (7.25 seconds), Carlos Beckstrand (Barnum, Minn./Barnum) (7.48 seconds) and Kieran Bignell (Menomonie, Wis./Menomonie) (7.82) each logged season-bests. In the finals, Ethan Bowe (Chetek, Wis./Chetek-Weyerhaeuser) grabbed second place with a 7.07-second finish while Hakanson took sixth at 7.32 seconds.
- Kyle Peterson (Brainerd, Minn./Brainerd) garnered a second-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles, crossing the line in 8.61 seconds. He also PR'd in the 60-meter dash with a mark of 7.34 seconds.
- Bowe and Hakanson also set season-lows in the 200-meter dash, placing third (23.10 seconds) and eighth (24.06 seconds), respectively.
- Superior's duo of Ben Plackner (Bovey, Minn./Greenway) and Maverick Hoogland (Catawba, Wis./Phillips) garnered top ten finishes in the mile, crossing the line at 4:33.56 and 4:44.05. Dominick Meisner's (Bloomer, Wis./Bloomer) time of 4:45.57 served as a new high-water mark.
- In the long jump, both Beckstrand and Sawyer Ferdon (Motley, Minn./Staples-Motley) finished in the top five with a 6.05-meter leap. Ferdon later took second in the triple jump at 12.62 meters.
- Jason Thomas (Superior, Wis./Superior) took fourth in the pole vault with a 4.15-meter vault, followed by Rene Sems (Ashland, Wis./Ashland) (4.00 meters) and Isaac Hanson (Hayward, Wis./Hayward) (3.70 meters).
- All Yellowjacket shot putters Saturday established a new personal record. Carson Wilhorn (Necedah, Wis./Necedah) took home fourth place with a 13.32 meter heave, while Chase Pierce (Two Harbors, Minn./Two Harbors) (13.10 meters) and Fabian Rosales (Washburn, Wis./Washburn) (11.52 meters) tailed.
The 'Jackets stay on the road next week as they travel to the Sports and Fitness Center on the campus of UW-Stout for the Warren Bowlus Invite. Select participants will compete in the multi's Friday afternoon, while the rest of the team will compete Saturday morning.
