MENOMONIE, Wis. – The Yellowjacket men's track and field team enjoyed a fine day on the campus of UW-Stout, taking part in the Warren Bowlus Invite. Leading the charge for the day was
Kyle Peterson (Brainerd, Minn./Brainerd), who set a new school record in the 60-meter hurdles for UW-Superior.
Meet Notes
- Peterson bettered his previous school record of 8.39 seconds in his first round with a mark of 8.36 seconds. He would later rank fifth in the finals with a race time of 8.55. Later in the 200-meter dash, he ranked first in his heat with a 23.10 second time with Benjamin McPherson in third at 26.81 seconds.
- Ethan Bowe (Chetek, Wis./Chetek-Weyerhaeuser) logged a second-place 7.16 second mark in his 60-meter heat.
- In the 200-meter dash, Sawyer Ferdon (Motley, Minn./Staples-Motley) took third in his heat with a race time of 25.13 seconds. Edward Hakanson (Foxboro, Wis./Superior) (24.30 seconds) and Kieran Bignell (Menomonie, Wis./Menomonie) (26.65 seconds) followed, respectively.
- The Yellowjacket duo of Marshall Swanson (Ashland, Wis./Ashland) and Garrett Kroells (Green Isle, Minn./Sibley East) finished in the top 10 in the 400-meter finals, collecting times of 55.36 and 57.75, respectively.
- Maverick Hoogland (Catawba, Wis./Phillips) garnered fifth place in the 3,000-meter navy race with a 9:05.85, while the white race featured Dylan Uitto (Ashland, Wis./Ashland) and Dominick Meisner (Bloomer, Wis./Bloomer) finished with race times of 9:29.47 and 9:35.18 for sixth and seventh place, respectively.
- Rene Sems (Ashland, Wis./Ashland) led the 'Jackets with a mark of 4.02 meters in the high jump.
- Ferdon cracked the top ten with a 6.17-meter finish in the long jump, while Carson Wilhorn (Necedah, Wis./Necedah) and Chase Pierce (Two Harbors, Minn./Two Harbors) finished with heaves of 13.58 and 13.54 meters in the shot put. In the weight throw, Wilhorn garnered eighth place with a 16.96-meter heave.
- In total, 11 personal records were set on the day.
The 'Jackets stay on the road in Wisconsin to take on the UWRF Winter Classic. Action is set for 11 a.m. inside the Robert P. Knowles Field House.
