MENOMONIE, Wis. – The Yellowjacket women's track and field team entered the Sports and Fitness Center Saturday to take on the Warren Bowlus Invite, hosted by fellow Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) institution UW-Stout. Seven personal bests were accomplished Saturday in a gauntlet of some of the region's best teams.
Meet Notes
- Within her heat, Riley Toivonen (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids) took fourth place with a 60-meter dash time of 31.75 seconds. Melissa Hoff (Holmen, Wis./Holmen) and Ella Briggs (Ridgeland, Wis./Prairie Farm) each took third in their respective heats with times of 30.19 and 30.72 seconds.
- Kayela Putnam (Stephenson, Mich./Stephenson) ranked within the top 10 with a 1:08.78 second finish in the 400-meter dash. In fifth place was Hoff, crossing the line in 1:07.12.
- Taylor DeCook (Arlington Heights, Ill./Prospect) grasped second place overall in the 800-meter finals, garnering a time of 2:38.74. She was trailed by Lillianna Jones (Portage, Wis./Portage) who captured a 2:40.23.
- Taking fourth place in the 3,000-meter white race was Lilley Smith (Ironwood, Mich./Ironwood), crossing the line at 11:31.83.
- KelliJoy Manninen (Duluth, Minn./Proctor) took second place in the high jump at 1.53 meters, while Kyra Nelson (Faribault, Minn./Faribault) and Addison Smith (Blue Earth, Minn./Blue Earth) each finished in eighth place with marks of 1.38 meters.
- Putnam later took 10th in the pole vault with a leap of 3.01 meters, her best to-date.
- Taking sixth place in the triple jump was Naima Burt (Winter, Wis./Winter), logging a 9.05-meter leap.
- Alivia Visger's (Superior, Wis./Superior) shot put heave of 10.22 was good for 12th place overall.
The Yellowjackets will hit the road once again next Saturday for the UWRF Winter Classic. Action is set to begin at 11 a.m.
