SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Landen Thomer (Mosinee, Wis./Mosinee) of the Yellowjacket men's basketball team was named the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) athlete of the week, the league announced Tuesday morning.
 
Thomer was a major contributor to the Yellowjackets' two victories before commencing UMAC play. At home against Saint Mary's Dec. 29, he shot 75 percent from the field while grabbing 13 rebounds and 12 points. Later in the week against Macalester, the sophomore wing scored a career-high 17 points and garnered 12 rebounds on the road. Thomer currently ranks fourth in scoring for Superior while leading the rebounding efforts.
 
Superior opens UMAC play Wednesday, hitting the road to face North Central. The opening tip is set for 7:15 p.m. inside Clark-Danielson Gymnasium.
