Yellowjackets Face the Fifth Annual Maday Classic

SUPERIOR, Wis. – Superior hosted the Fifth Annual Maday Classic on Saturday inside Dr. Lydia C. Thering Fieldhouse. The Yellowjacket women fared well in a heat of the region's best, as seven personal records and eight season bests spearheaded the charge.
 
Meet Notes
  • Three personal records came in the preliminary 60-meter dash. Hannah Hutton (Spooner, Wis./Spooner) (8.89) led the way with Kyra Nelson (Faribault, Minn./Faribault) (8.94) and Addison Smith (Blue Earth, Minn./Blue Earth) (9.21) would follow.
  • Summer Hesseldahl (International Falls, Minn./Falls) qualified for the 60-meter hurdles finals after setting a season-best mark of 10.86 seconds for seventh place.
  • In the 200-meter dash, Cora Schmitz (Luck, Wis./Unity) came away with a season-best race time of 29.56 seconds for 12th place.
  • Taylor DeCook (Arlington Heights, Ill./Prospect) was the top Yellowjacket in the 800-meter race, taking eighth place with a 2:34.55, which is good for a new season-best.
  • Both Lillianna Jones (Portage, Wis./Portage) and Scarlett Vanderscheuren (Saginaw, Minn./South Ridge) would shave time off their personal record times in the 800-meter race, finishing the day with race times of 2:37.78 and 2:39.31.
  • Bel Dimaze (Monticello, Minn./Spectrum) and KelliJoy Manninen (Duluth, Minn./Proctor) finished with a 1.50-meter high jump on the day. Dimaze later garnered a 4.33-meter mark in the long jump for fifth place, trailing Summer Hesseldahl (International Falls, Minn./Falls) who leaped to a 4.39 mark for fourth.
  • Keira Hesseldahl (International Falls, Minn./Falls) and McKenna Nash (Rhinelander, Wis./Rhinelander) led the 'Jackets in the pole vault, clearing the bar at 2.56 meters and 2.41 meters, respectively.
  • In the weight throw, Alivia Visger (Superior, Wis./Superior) and Sidney Bader (Milltown, Wis./Unity) set marks of 11.26 and 10.49 meters. Bader's mark was good for a new personal record.
  • The top 4x200-meter relay squad came in the quartet of Schmitz, Jones, Ella Briggs (Ridgeland, Wis./Prairie Farm) and Melissa Hoff (Holmen, Wis./Holmen), who combined for a 1:59.46.
 
The Yellowjackets will be back in action Friday as they take on the Showshoe Classic. Hosted by the University of Minnesota, events are to take place inside the Minnesota Fieldhouse.
