ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. -The Yellowjacket women's basketball team braved the winter weather and traveled to Crown College to take on the Polars Wednesday. The score was neck-and-neck throughout the game, but ultimately Crown came out victorious over the Yellowjackets 50-47. Â
Game NotesÂ
- Megan Schafer (Grantsburg, Wis./Grantsburg) got Superior on the board first, draining a three-pointer with an assist going to Elsa Olson (Cottage Grove, Minn./Park).
- Ferstl scored a layup to pull the Yellowjackets ahead 13-7 going into the second quarter. Â
- Hope Carlson (Duluth, Minn./Proctor) scored a three at the beginning of the second quarter off a pass from Schafer.
- The Polars went on a scoring streak and were only down by two at the half, 22-20.Â
- Crown pulled away in the third before the 'Jackets responded, giving the Polars a narrow lead at 34-33. Â
- With less than a minute left in the fourth, Olson logged a free throw to tie it up 47-47. Â
- The Yellowjackets committed a late foul, and later Crown would respond with a trey to claim a 50-47 win.
- Carlson led the Yellowjackets with eight rebounds and seven points.
- Olson and Schafer finished with three assists apiece.

The 'Jackets will close out their regular season conference schedule on Saturday when they host Minnesota Morris. The opening tipoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. inside Mertz Mortorelli Gymnasium.  Â
