Brandon Johnson Tabbed as Head Club Men’s Soccer Coach

SUPERIOR, Wis. – At the conclusion of a national search, the University of Wisconsin-Superior and Yellowjacket Athletics have selected Brandon Johnson to lead the men's club soccer team.

"I'm thrilled to be selected to lead the men's club soccer program at UW-Superior," Johnson said. "I would like to thank Nick Bursik and the hiring committee for the confidence they have in me. This university, this department, and the Superior community mean a lot to me and I'm excited for this new role," he continued.

Johnson is no stranger to Yellowjacket Athletics, having been on staff for the varsity men's and women's soccer teams in 2025. For the 2024 season, he assisted the women's soccer team at Lake Superior College after a six-year stint in Two Harbors, Minnesota. Johnson led the Two Harbors Soccer Club from 2018-19 before serving various roles at Two Harbors High School, aiding the boy's and girl's teams from 2019-24.

A native of East Grand Forks, Minn., Johnson attended North Iowa Area Community College before transferring to UW-Superior ahead of the 2016 campaign as a goalkeeper.

"We are excited to welcome Brandon as our new Head Club Soccer Coach," UW-Superior director of athletics Nick Bursik said. "His commitment to the student-athlete experience, combined with his competitive drive and vision for program growth, will continue to elevate our club soccer program and create meaningful opportunities for our student-athletes both on and off the field."

Johnson's first day with the program will be March 9.
