SUPERIOR, Wis. – The Yellowjacket women's track and field team hosted day one of the 2025-26 Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Championships Friday. After the first eight events, the Yellowjackets find themselves in sole possession of third place (49.5 points), trailing Martin Luther (63.5 points) and Crown (83).
 
Meet Notes

• In the preliminary rounds of the 60-meter dash, both Cora Schmitz (Luck, Wis./Unity) and Summer Hesseldahl (International Falls, Minn./Falls) garnered season-bests with race times of 8.59 and 8.64 seconds, respectively.
• Hesseldahl qualified in the 60-meter hurdles with a 10.57 race time, while Riley Toivonen (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids) set a new personal best at 10.80 seconds.
• In the mile, Taylor DeCook (Arlington Heights, Ill./Prospect) took eighth in 5:39.55, setting a new personal record.
• KelliJoy Manninen (Duluth, Minn./Proctor) claimed the top spot in high jump, clearing the bar at 1.55 meters. Kyra Nelson (Faribault, Minn./Faribault) followed in third place, setting a new season-best at 1.45 meters.
• Alivia Visger (Superior, Wis./Superior) took fourth in the weight throw, setting a mark of 13.24 meters.
• The Yellowjacket distance medley squad of Amelia Olson (Sturgeon Lake, Minn./Moose Lake), Kayela Putnam (Stephenson, Mich./Stephenson), Scarlett Vanderscheuren (Saginaw, Minn./South Ridge) and DeCook took first place with a time of 13:41.57.
• A season-best time in the 4x200-meter relay came courtesy of Cora Schmitz (Luck, Wis./Unity), Lillianna Jones (Portage, Wis./Portage), Melissa Hoff (Holmen, Wis./Holmen) and Ella Briggs (Ridgeland, Wis./Prairie Farm) at 1:57.80.

 
The Yellowjackets return for the second and final day of the UMAC Championships Saturday, with events beginning at 11 a.m.
