ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Yellowjacket women's basketball team hit the road Wednesday to take on Northwestern a team they played two weeks ago at home. Despite trailing at the half, the 'Jackets used a second half surge to pick up the 63-54 victory.

The Yellowjackets led by as many as six points in the first quarter, getting buckets from Maddie Reott (Stoughton, Wis./Stoughton), Hope Carlson (Duluth, Minn./Proctor) and Kylee Hewitt (Hurley, Wis./). Northwestern was able to close the deficit at the end of the quarter to one-point trailing 13-12.

In the third quarter the 'Jackets came out swinging regaining their lead with help from Megan Schafer (Grantsburg, Wis./Grantsburg), Kyra Latvala (Solon Springs, Wis./Solon Springs) and Ferstl all scoring.

In the fourth quarter the 'Jackets led by 15 points after an Elsa Olson (Cottage Grove, Minn./Park) three pointer, but the Eagles would not go away quietly. Northwestern would cut the lead down to just five but a dagger three from Schafer allowed the 'Jackets to come away victorious.
Superior (9-12, 6-2 UMAC) is next in action Saturday as they travel to take on Martin Luther. Tip-off between the Yellowjackets and Knights is set for 3 p.m. inside LSC Gymnasium in New Ulm, Minn.
