SAINT PAUL, Minn. - The Yellowjackets logged three to the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) weekly award list, the league announced Tuesday.
Superior swept the north division's tennis awards as
Mateo Abarca Pino (Riobamba, Ecuador/El Despertar) and
Daylyn Drew (Negaunee, Mich./Negaunee) were recognized, while
Devin Frydenlund (Belleville, Wis./Belleville) from the Yellowjacket baseball team was named the league's player of the week.
Abarca Pino took a 6-3 win versus Emerson alongside
Keanu Lin (Rosemount, Minn./Rosemount) at the No. 3 doubles position. He later defeated his counterpart 2-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-6) at the fourth singles slot, finishing his day 2-0.
Drew also went 2-0 versus Emerson. She began with a 6-4 win at No. 3 doubles alongside
Elif Oezen (Rheda-Wiedenbrueck, Germany/Einstein Gymnasium) before defeating Abigail Miner 6-0, 6-1 at the third singles position.
Frydenlund's lone hit of the game was a big one, crushing a grand slam to give the Yellowjackets a 4-0 lead. His four RBIs led the team and provided the 'Jackets with a 5-4 win over Beloit.
The Yellowjacket tennis teams take on Roger Williams today at 10:30 a.m. CT. The women will also take on Piedmont at 5:30 p.m. CT.
The Yellowjaket baseball team will face Fitchburg State on Wednesday. The opening pitch is set for 9:30 a.m. CT.
