SUPERIOR, Wis. – The Yellowjacket women's tennis team was perfect once again in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) play, taking down Crown College 7-0 on their way to their third-straight regular season title.
Match Notes
- The Yellowjacket duos of Andreina Tejada (Quito, Ecuador/Isaac Newton) and Claudia Curtis (Hartland, Wis./Lake Mills), along with Elif Oezen (Rheda-Wiedenbrueck, Germany/Einstein Gymnasium) and Daylyn Drew (Negaunee, Mich./Negaunee) swept their opponents at Nos. 1-2 doubles by 6-0 decisions.
- Kate Jonas (Annandale, Minn./Annandale) and Hailey Bault (Saukville, Wis./Grafton) earned a 6-2 win over Kayla Bultena and Elyse Steffen in the final doubles position.
- Tejada, slotted at the top singles position, won 6-1, 6-0 over the Polars while Oezen took down Xeng Her 6-2, 6-1 in No. 2 singles.
- Curtis cruised through her singles match, defeating Crown 6-0, 6-0.
- Jonas rolled to another win at the fourth position, taking down Regan Cocking 6-2, 6-0 while Drew won 6-2, 6-2.
- Addison Fee (Crookston, Minn./Crookston) rounded out the 'Jackets at No. 6 singles, claiming a 6-0, 6-4 win against Bultena.
- The Yellowjackets finished 5-0 in UMAC play, defeating each opponent in a 7-0 sweep.
The Yellowjackets are the No. 1 seed in the UMAC Tournament. They will face the No. 2 seed in the south division Friday at the Baseline Tennis Center in Minneapolis.
