DULUTH, Minn. – Sunday the Yellowjacket baseball team needed a victory over the Cougars of Minnesota Morris to claim a share of the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Regular Season Championship, and following a key five-run sixth inning, took down the Cougars 8-2 for their first conference championship since the 1966 season.

Game Notes
- The 'Jackets scored in their half of the first inning after Tanner Voight (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater) hit a sacrifice fly to plate Noah Dagostino (Andover, Minn./Andover), who singled to right field to open the game.
- Minnesota Morris responded with an RBI single off the bat of Ryan McGie in the sixth, but Superior responded with a five-spot in the bottom of the inning. Dagostino singled up the middle and later scored on a throwing error, and a pair of doubles off the bats of Wylee Lottman (Kerkhoven, Minn./Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg) and Brian O'Dwyer (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) helped spearhead the offense.
- The fifth run of the inning came on as Owen Farrington (White Bear Lake, Minn./White Bear Lake Area) singled to left field to score O'Dwyer, giving the 'Jackets a 6-1 lead.
- Later in the eighth, Superior scored the eighth run of the ball game after Voight singled to center field, plating Carter Thielke (Fergus Falls, Minn./Fergus Falls) who reached on a double down the left field line.
- Despite the Cougars scoring one in the top of the ninth, the 'Jackets ended the game with a double play to secure the program's first UMAC regular season title.
- Dagostino, Trey Sybrant (Saint Michael, Minn./Saint Michael-Albertville), Voight and O'Dwyer each had two hits in the game.
- Kaden Corlett (Gordon, Wis./Solon Springs) got the start on the mound and threw five innings before giving way to Evan Cichanofsky (Green Bay, Wis./Bay Port), Kevin Rahe (Princeton, Minn./Princeton) and Declan Higgins (Minneapolis, Minn./DeLaSalle). Rahe pitched 2.2 innings and picked up his second win of the season.

The Yellowjackets (25-12, 14-4 UMAC) have secured the second seed in the UMAC Postseason Tournament. They will play the third-seeded Eagles of Northwestern at 1 p.m. this Thursday at ISG Field in Mankato, Minn.
