Yellowjackets 6, Concordia 2
Box Score

MEQUON, Wis. -
The fact that the Yellowjackets were shorthanded players didn't faze them one bit as they cruised to a 6-2 victory over Concordia University Wisconsin. As a matter in fact, the Yellowjackets' six goals tied their season high, despite their lack of depth.

The Yellowjackets struggled to find the net during the first ten minutes of the contest.  The Falcons started off the scoring with Sarah Cole putting home a wrist shot just 1:18 into the game to make it 1-0.  The Yellowjackets appreciated the fuel that the goal gave them, as they went on to score six unanswered goals throughout the rest of the game.  Alison Shrift (Traverse City, Mich./West High School) kicked off the Yellowjacket scoring when she netted a goal at 11:44 of the first period. Chelsey Wierschem (Willmar, Minn./Willmar) added two goals in the game.  Other Yellowjackets putting goals on the board were Bailey Lane (Armada, Mich./Armada) , Dani Schultz (Morris, Minn./Morris Area), and Kiara DeKezel .  Lane, Wierschem, and Kelsey Firkus (Chilliwack, British Columbia/Chilliwack Senior Secondary) led the Yellowjackets with three points each in the contest.  Muriel McIntyre closed out the scoring for the game, scoring at 8:33 to make the score 6-2.  The Falcons and Yellowjackets traded penalties with each other throughout the game with the Yellowjackets going 0-4 on the power play while the Falcons went 0-5.

Amy Torgerson (Wentzville, Mo./Gilmour Academy) got the nod in goal for the Yellowjackets, and she finished with 22 saves.  Falcons' goaltender Andrea Mizanskey took the loss, making 22 saves on 28 shots.  Hannah Redden replaced her during the final 15 minutes of play, making six saves.

The Yellowjackets (9-5-2, 8-3-1 NCHA) will return home for a weekend series (Jan. 27-28) with the Pointers from UW-Stevens Point. Game time for Friday (Jan. 27) will be 7:00 p.m and Saturday's game (Jan. 28) will take place at 2:00 p.m.  Both games can be viewed via webcast at ifan.tv.
