After a heartbreaking breaking weekend that saw the Adrian College Bulldogs sweep the Yellowjackets, redemption was the word of the night going into this contest against The College of St. Scholastica.  The Yellowjackets found that redemption in a 3-1 win against the Saints due to a solid power play effort.

The Yellowjackets'got a chance to show what they can do with the extra skater at 7:29 of the first period when Courtney Esse took a holding penalty for the Saints.  Kiara De Kezel (Deloraine, Manitoba/Deloraine) would capitalize on that chance with a wrist shot the fooled Saints goaltender Teraysa White to give the Yellowjackets a 1-0 on the power play at 8:13 of the first period.  The Saints responded in the second period when Brenna Flatley gave Nikki Logergren a perfect saucer pass from the left circle.  Logergren would capitalize, slipping a shot past Shanley Peters (Gnadenthal, Manitoba/Garden Valley Collegiate) to knot the game at a goal a piece at 4:47 of the second period.

It was ok because it was all Yellowjackets from there as they outshot the Saints 14-6 for the rest of the game.  It would take the Yellowjackets until the third period to put the puck past the net when Alison Shrift (Traverse City, Mich./West High School) notched her first goal of the season at 7:36 to give the Yellowjackets a 2-1 lead.  The power play worked its magic once again for the Yellowjackets when Dani Schultz (Morris, Minn./Morris Area) netted a goal in front of the net off a pass from Sheryl Kaskiw (Souris, Manitoba/Souris Collegiate) at the top of the circle to extend the lead to 3-1.

Peters made 13 saves for the Yellowackets while White stopped 31 shots for St. Scholastica.

The Yellowjackets (9-6, 5-5 NCHA) will look to put the finishing touches on a sweep against the Saints tomorrow at Wessman Arena in Superior.  Game time is at 2:00 p.m.
