SUPERIOR, Wis. (January 27, 2018) – In the first ever Yellowjacket tennis match, the 'Jackets faced the UMD Bulldogs from across the pond. It was a hard-fought battle, but the Bulldogs proved to be too much.

Doubles

The Yellowjackets played some of their best right on the start. The No. 1 team of Alison Tollas (Ashland, Wis./Ashland) and Mariah Linder (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids) pushed a Bulldog duo but were edged by a score of 8-6.

Singles

No. 2 Emily Wald (Antigo, Wis./Antigo) played two solid sets, but fell 6-2, 6-3, while No. 4 Kitana Honkola (Eveleth, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert) won two games, eventually beat 6-1, 6-1.

Linder also played well in her singles debut after falling behind 6-0 in her first set, and coming back to win three (6-3) in her second.

The Yellowjackets will look to bounce back tomorrow morning when they host the Concordia Cobbers at 9 a.m.
