Box Score 1 SUPERIOR, Wis. – The Yellowjacket women's tennis team hosted a pair of opponents at the Yellowjacket Tennis Complex Saturday in UW-Stevens Point and NCAA Division II Minnesota Duluth. In both matches, the 'Jackets fell by 6-1 decisions.
Match One Notes
- Superior won at No. 2 doubles, as the duo of Emma LaPlante (Crookston, Minn./Crookston) and Kate Jonas (Annandale, Minn./Annandale) defeated Allie Brosteau and Lacey Foss 6-4.
- Claudia Curtis (Hartland, Wis./Lake Mills) dropped a 6-4, 6-1 decision to Chloe Regal at the top singles position, while Elif Oezen (Rheda-Wiedenbrueck, Germany/Einstein Gymnasium) dropped a tightly contested match at No. 2 singles 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-5).
- Jonas took home a 6-3, 6-0 win at the third singles slot.
- Lillian Kimber (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East) fell 6-4, 6-4 to Brosteau at No. 4 singles, while Avery Albrecht (Montevideo, Minn./Montevideo) dropped a 6-3, 6-0 decision at No. 5 singles.
- LaPlante won the first game 6-2 before a pair of tiebreakers not falling her way, falling 7-6 (7-5), 1-0 (10-4) to Morgan Milan.
Match Two Notes
- Versus the Bulldogs, Curtis and Oezen defeated Paige Heideman and Olivia Gorton 7-5 at the top doubles position.
- LaPlante and Jonas fell 6-3 to Mia Miller and Danica Silcox before Sydney Friedrich and Isabelle Simon took down Albrecht and Claire Lampi (Annandale, Minn./Annandale) 6-3 at Nos. 2 and 3 doubles, respectively.
- Curtis, at the top singles position, fell 6-2, 6-3 to Heideman.
- Oezen won her singles bout 7-6 (7-2), 6-3 over Friedrich.
- Jonas was upended by Mia Miller 6-3, 7-5 before Kimber fell 6-1, 6-0 in the third and fourth slots.
- Albrecht and LaPlante rounded out the day, falling 6-2, 6-1 and 6-3, 6-2, respectively, against their Bulldog counterparts.
The Yellowjackets are set to return to the courts Saturday where they take on Macalester. The opening serve versus the Scots is set for 12 p.m. at the Hayden Tennis Courts.
