LAKEVILLE, Minn. (February 24, 2018) – The Yellowjackets saw their first program win later Saturday night as they beat the Bethany Lutheran Vikings in dominating fashion.
Match 1
The Yellowjackets couldn't find the win vs their first opponent Grand View University. Emily Wald (Antigo, Wis./Antigo) and the Vikings to 6-3 and 6-4 and Mariah Linder (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids) was forced to a third set after winning her first, but the Vikings won 104.
Superior regrouped thereafter and prepared for a non-conference matchup with a new team of Vikings in Bethany Lutheran.
Match 2
Superior found their groove in the doubles matches, making a clean sweep of all three matches at 8-1.
It was then in the singles that the Yellowjackets pounded the Vikings. Alison Tollas (Ashland, Wis./Ashland) took a 6-1, 6-0 victory in the No. 1 position, Wald 6-1, 6-1, Linder 6-3, 6-0, and Superior kept going. Charlotte Zangs (Maplewood, Minn./North St. Paul) would win going 6-0, 6-0, and then Youmei Li (Ganzhou, China/Ganzhou) won the final match 6-1, 6-0.
Head coach Kolin Dean was proud of the 'Jackets saying "I knew that we could get that win, we played smart and solid tennis today."
