SUPERIOR, Wis. (March 17, 2018) – The Yellowjackets were back in action Saturday afternoon, playing two matches. First, they got a non-conference win over Martin Luther in Lydia Thering Fieldhouse, but then surrendered a loss to St. Benedict at the Duluth Indoor Sports Center.
Match 1
The Yellowjackets showed out in the first match, getting tough wins in the doubles matchup. Kitana Honkola (Eveleth, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert) and Emily Wald (Antigo, Wis./Antigo) fought hard and came back to win their no. 2 matchup 9-7, while the no. 1 duo of Alison Tollas (Ashland, Wis./Ashland) and Mariah Linder (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids) got a solid 8-6 win.
Honkola continued to fight in her singles match, going 6-7 6-3 with two tie-breaking wins to give her the victory. Wald, Linder, and Megan Dulong (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids) also found wins for the Yellowjackets, beating the Knights in their singles matches.
Match 2
Superior then traveled across the bridge to Duluth to face the St. Benedict Blazers in a neutral-site game. The Yellowjackets were unable to get a win against the tough Blazers, falling 9-0.

Superior will make the trip to Appleton, Wis. at the end of the week, playing against Crown College and Rippon.
