St. Scholastica 8, UW-Superior 1

DULUTH, Minn. (April 29, 2018) – Superior concluded their regular season at St. Scholastica Saturday, but fell to the Saints 8-1.

Doubles

The 'Jackets had a tough day in doubles, Alison Tollas (Ashland, Wis./Ashland) and Mariah Linder (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids) had a hard-fought battle at the no. 1 position, but fell 8-4. The other two pairings fell by 8-1 scores.

Singles

Emily Wald (Antigo, Wis./Antigo) saw the only win in singles for Superior, going 7-5 in the first set, and then getting a better 6-4 win over Dany Roja at the no. 2 postion.

Charlotte Zangs (Maplewood, Minn./North St. Paul) put up a fight at no. 6, but was beat by Taylor Hays at 6-2 and 6-2 scores. Tollas got two set points in the no. spot with two 6-1 losses.

"We came out and improved our game today, I'm proud of the fight that we put up today" Head Coach Kolin Dean said.

Superior will travel to Northwestern tomorrow afternoon for a 6 p.m. UMAC Tournament contest with the Eagles.
