SUPERIOR, Wis. – The UW-Superior volleyball team is set to play a 28-match schedule in 2021, head coach Lynne Deadrick announced Tuesday.
The Yellowjackets' slate features 14 non-conference matches and two in-season tournaments. UWS opens the season Sept. 3-4 at a tournament co-hosted by Central and Grinnell before coming home for the 2021 Subway Stinger Classic, a six-team, two-court event at Mertz Mortorelli Gym Sept. 10-11.
The 'Jackets begin the event against Northland and Nebraska Wesleyan Friday, Sept. 10 at 3 and 7 p.m., respectively. The next day will see Superior take on Concordia (Minn.) and Macalester at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
UWS then travels to Bethel Sept. 18 to face UW-Stout at 1 p.m. and the tri-match host Royals at 3 p.m., prior to opening Upper Midwest Athletic Conference action Sept. 21 at home against Northland at 7 p.m.
After playing Bethany Lutheran on the road Sept. 24, Superior is at both St. Catherine and Martin Luther the next day.
UWS heads to Hamline Sept. 28 at 7 p.m., prior to playing a string of seven consecutive conference matches. Bridge rival and former conference mate St. Scholastica then hosts the Yellowjackets Oct. 19 at Reif Gym at 7 p.m.
UW-Stout comes to Superior Oct. 26 at 7 p.m., to complete a home-and-home series, for what will be the 'Jackets' final regular-season non-conference match.
Crown and Minnesota Morris visit Mertorelli Gym to close the UMAC schedule Oct. 29-30, respectively.
The Yellowjackets finished a condensed three-month 2020 season with a record of 8-2, including a 6-2 mark in league play.
