SUPERIOR, Wis. -- The UW-Superior women's soccer team will play 11 of its 20 matches at NBC Spartan Sports Complex in 2022, as head coach
Allison DeGroot announced the Yellowjackets' 2022 schedule Thursday.
Coming off its first-ever Upper Midwest Athletic Conference title a season ago, UWS opens the regular season hosting Augsburg Thursday, Sept. 1 at 1:30 p.m., to begin a three-match homestand. Hamline comes to town Sunday, Sept. 4 at 2 p.m., followed by a visit from UW-Stout on Tuesday, Sept. 6 at 4 p.m.
UWS travels to Madison, Wis., to take on Edgewood Sept. 11 at noon, looking for its second consecutive victory over the Eagles after pulling off a 2-1 double-overtime win with a last-minute goal last season in Superior.
UMAC play starts Sept. 14 at home with a contest against Northland at 7 p.m., prior to a date at UW-River Falls, Sept. 17 at 2 p.m. UWS earned its first victory against the Falcons in 26 all-time matches in 2021, a 3-2 win on Sept. 5 at home.
The 'Jackets' five-match road trip continues the next two weekends at Bethany Lutheran and Martin Luther and at Crown and Minnesota Morris on Sept. 23-24 and Sept. 30-Oct. 1, respectively.
Northwestern and North Central come in Oct. 5 and 8 prior to UWS heading to Ashland Wis., and Northland to play the LumberJills Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. The Yellowjackets host MLC and BLC Oct. 14-15.
St. Scholastica visits NBC Spartan Sports Complex on Oct. 18 at 4 p.m., in Superior's final regular-season non-conference matchup of the season. The 'Jackets earned their second win over the Saints last season in their only meeting in Duluth -- a 2-1 decision on Oct. 19.
After traveling to the Twin Cities to face North Central Oct. 21 and Northwestern Oct. 22, UWS closes the home regular-season slate against Minnesota Morris and Crown on Oct. 28-29, with the Crown match doubling as Senior Day.
UWS enjoyed arguably the best season in program history in 2021 at 18-4-1 overall and advanced to the first round of the NCAA Division III championship, falling to St. Catherine. The Yellowjackets return 13 players and welcome 12 newcomers for 2022.
