INDIANAPOLIS – The Yellowjacket women's soccer team captured the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Postseason Championship Saturday, defeating Northwestern 1-0 and earning their fifth consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament.
Following the NCAA's selection show Monday morning, the 'Jackets learned they are heading to Stagg Grass Fields, taking on No. 7 UChicago in Saturday's opening round at 11 a.m.
UWS currently boasts an 11-7-4 overall record and a three-match winning streak. Defensively they have relied on senior goalkeeper
Quinn Clark (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East) and senior defender
Meagan Bergerson (Two Harbors, Minn./Two Harbors), allowing the opposition to just 1.14 goals and 11.5 shots per match.
Offensively, sophomore
Niamh Larson (Brookfield, Ill./Riverside Brookfield) and senior
Kamryn Hill (Duluth, Minn./Denfeld), the UMAC Postseason Tournament MVP, lead the 'Jackets with 12 and 11 goals, respectively.
Also apart of the four-team regional are St. Catherine and UW-La Crosse.
